Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Future Physicians and how we connect students to medical opportunities

Is this really free?

Yes — we're a student-led nonprofit. There are no fees, ever. We believe that access to medical opportunities shouldn't depend on your ability to pay.

Who can apply?

Any high school or college student interested in medicine can apply. We work with students at all levels, from high school juniors exploring healthcare to college seniors preparing for medical school.

What types of opportunities do you offer?

We offer four main types of opportunities: shadowing experiences with healthcare professionals, internships in medical settings, research opportunities in labs and institutions, and volunteering positions in healthcare organizations. These can be both remote and in-person.

Do I have to contact hospitals myself?

No. Our team handles all outreach and matches you to real institutions. This is one of our key differentiators — we eliminate the need for cold emails and provide professional introductions on your behalf.

How long does it take to get connected?

Typically within 2–3 weeks after submitting your form. This includes time for our team to review your profile, identify suitable matches, conduct outreach to our partner institutions, and facilitate the connection.

What information do I need to provide?

Our application form asks about your academic background, interests in specific medical fields, grade level, location preferences (or if you're open to remote opportunities), and any relevant experience you may have.

Can international students apply?

We have students in 25+ countries and work with institutions worldwide. We can help connect you to opportunities both in your home country and internationally.

What if I don't get matched to an opportunity?

While we work hard to match every student, sometimes specific opportunities may not be available. In these cases, we'll keep your profile active and reach out when new opportunities arise that match your interests.

How do you verify opportunities?

We personally vet all partner institutions and opportunities. Our team maintains direct relationships with hospitals, clinics, research labs, and other medical organizations to ensure all opportunities are legitimate and valuable.

Can I apply for multiple types of opportunities?

Yes! You can indicate interest in multiple types of experiences (shadowing, research, internships, volunteering) in your application, and we'll work to find the best matches based on availability and your preferences.
